Three-camera setup for KSD: Appalraju!

Three-camera setup for KSD: Appalraju!
Ramgopal Varma likes to stretch the limitations of cinematic technology with almost every film he does. He is doing the same again with his next movie ‘Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam: Appalraju”. The director will use a slightly complicated three-camera setup for this film. Generally, in Indian films, directors like to use a single camera. While this single-camera setup gives a director more control on every shot, managing continuity and editing becomes a problem. The multiple-camera set up maximizes smoother management of continuity and editing. However, it makes the setting up of lighting a touch difficult for cinematographer. Ramgopal Varma, however has somehow mastered cinematography in his unique style. He was the first person who used a ‘Still Camera’ in his first movie ‘Shiva’ and since then he uses a camera like how a regular computer uses a mouse. It is heard that he had to give some time to his actors Sunil and Swati, so that they can get accustomed to this new way of shot making. It will be interesting to see how the output of this movie will be with this three-camera set up
